Thanks for the tour mate. I did find it and the pinball was working. My colleagues were a bit disappointed with the machine, and as there was no real ale there, we moved onto the JDW Waterhouse, for a couple of late pints. I gather that they were a bit late getting their registration desk up and running this morning - I wonder why!?

No real stuff?? They usually have Star Brewery Bitter & Tetleys. Must have been an off day.

I didn't actually get as far as the bar, as I was intercepted at the the pinball machine by a trio of Chicago residents (Ian and Lee had been joined by another US colleague by then). They said there wasn't any real ale, so I didn't bother to go to the bar. But they were fairly inebriated by then, and they could have been mistaken. And as you had said there generally was ale available in your review I decided to play safe and make no mention of its availability or non-availability in my brief review, as it wasn't borne out by personal experience!
