Default Gallaghers Pub & Barbers Shop, Birkenhead

Early I know, but if I go to a better (and as yet unreviewed) pub than this during the month I'll be doubly happy.

Brief write up and photos will be posted soon..

PS - The barbers shop bit really does exist, at the back!

My pub of the month is The Stag at Barkstone, this is a nice looking pub and it is an Everards tied house.

There was a nice relaxed atmosphere to it, this was probably because we went in it at my favourite time of day to have a drink this was mid to late afternoon.

This thread wasn't very popular last month

Still, never mind, as I haven't voted myself yet.

Sheffield is going to be the city for my pub of the month, but which pub is the question.

This one Henry's has put in a strong bid and was the only pub we visited more than once during our 2 days. In fact we visited 3 times !!

A fine addition to the already excellent Sheffield cask ale scene.

This one Riverside Inn has improved dramatically since my last vist a couple of years ago and is well worth a visit now.

But my POTM is going to be Gardeners Rest an excellent refurbishment by Sheffield Brewery and a really quirky pub.

We'll be visiting this one for years to come I suspect.

    Forgot about this thread.

My POTM is the Pineapple in Kentish Town. I'd intended to spend some time in the nearby Southampton Arms, but it was absolutely packed, so I just had a quick half before wandering over to the Pineapple. It's a great little pub, with excellent beer (Redemption Big Chief in particular on this visit), friendly staff, a nice atmosphere and an attractive interior - which ticks pretty much all the necessary boxes.

Others worthy of mention include the Jolly Butchers in Stoke Newington for its good beer selection, North Nineteen in Holloway for great food and service and the Old Coffee House in Soho for well kept Brodies beers and interesting decor. A decent month all round.

Bit late with my submission, but POTM goes to The Boat Inn in Stoke Bruerne. This is a classic canalside pub, thatched roof, stone built, low ceilings with an authentic boatmans snug and a real fire.It is situated opposite the Waterways Museum in this unspoilt canal village and there even happens to be a good quality curry house also overlooking the canal.A lock and several ex working narrowboat pairs complete the scene,it's iconic and the Old Empire IPA was in fine form.
OK I am biased but it's well worth seeking out.
