Day three of the festival and my local Spoons - the Ship of Fools in West Croydon - STILL hasn't managed to get a single festival ale on the bar.

Visited the Rodboro Buildings in Guildford yesterday and, despite this being a Lloyds No. 1 bar rather than a 'proper' 'spoons, all seven beers on were festival ales - a good effort I thought...

Ticked off a lucky 13 so far, plus one of the ciders. Plenty of dark beers but nothing so far has made me think I may have encountered my beer of the festival. The Eclipse is maybe my favourite so far, with Daniel's Hammer and the Pendle Porter also being good. Of the US ones I've tried the Yakima Sun was disappointing. Worst so far is THe Governor and the Octoberzest wasn't particularly zesty.

Hoping a visit to St Albans today will help me find some stars.

10 down after last night. I have enjoyed the stronger beers, the Odell 90 Shilling and Brakspear Triple being very drinkable. Wasn't overkeen on TSA Taking The Pith and I did get a sip of the Teacle Toffee (the barrell ran out after a couple of tugs on the hand pull but I did at least get a sampler - not my thing at all. Favourite so far is probably the Roosters Last Stand.

I did not like that one either or the piston broke but they were a bit too light for me as I prefer my dark Ales.

Eventually got started last night with a couple in the White Hart in Todmorden.

Back to The Dale for the England game and a couple of pints of Phoenix Arizona.

Then across to the Regal Moon to continue festival ticking.

A few more tonight as well I should think.

Managed to tick five on Thursday, in the Six Chimneys, Wakefield:

Double Maxim - Anderson's Best Scotch.
    Rooster's - Last Stand.
    Woodforde's - Kett's Rebellion.
    WharfeBank - Treacle Toffee Stout.
    Hook Norton - Flagship Ale.

The pick was probably the Last Stand, if a little more restrained than I was expecting, considering the hop varieties involved. Thought the Kett's Rebellion was well made, if not really my style and that the Best Scotch was as dull as ditch water.

Didn't turn out particularly good. Both JDW's have had 8-10 barrel stillages during past festivals but nothing this time and not a great selection. Managed to tick off another four and revisited the Kalamazoo Black Silk which I'm starting to like.

Off to the Blacksmiths Arms which is like a festival of oits own, 10 pumps and only four that I'd seen before. Found what will be my BotW Tring XL IPA.
