If I remember correctly it was around this time of year that the Euston Tap opened so they're obviously hoping the Xmas trade might kick things off. Good luck to them, it looks bigger than the Euston property which is a major restriction for them, especially during the winter months. Although it's in the station I hope there is the opportunity for an outside overspill. They'll also need to think carefully about pricing, I can't see the good folk of Yorkshire taking kindly to the sort of prices we see at Euston.

I asked on scoopgen site for a rundown of what open day at York was like, and this is the reply I got.

"Happy to help Gill. York Tap opened to the general tap at 2pm, and I got in shortly afterwards. I could only stay for a couple as I'm working nights tonight. Anyway here are what beers are on at the moment:

    Hand Pump

Magic Rock Curious NZ 3.9 (brewed with Nea Zealand hops instead of American)
Ilkley Tap 3 Northern Clout 4.2 (brewed for the York Tap)
    Marble Dobber 5.9
    Marble Lagonada IPA 5.0
    Fyne Hurricane Jack 4.9
    Fyne Jarl 3.8
    Tempest Elemental 5.1
    Tempest Emanation 4.5
    Dark Star Hophead 3.8
Dark Star American Pale Ale 4.7
    Kirstall Black Band Porter 5.3
    Magic Rock High Wire 5.5
    Ilkley Best 4.0
    Thornbridge Pivni 3.2
Thornbridge / Kernal Coalition Burton Ale 7.2
    Thornbridge Coalition Old Ale 7.0
Flying Dog Imperial IPA Centennial (aged for 6 months)
    Keg

    Bernard Svetle 3.8
    Bernard Cerny 5.1
    Bernard Nefiltrovane 5.0
    Timmermans Strawberry 4.0
    Cantillion Rose de Gambrinus 5.0
    Thornbridge Jaipur 5.9
    Opat Cranberry Pilsner 4.8
    Erdinger Urweiss 5.2
    Black Isle Organic Blonde 4.5
    Schlenkerla Urbock 6.5
    Magic Rock Cannonball 7.4

    Cider

    Thirsty Cross Ginger Cider 4.0

It has a similar feel to the Sheffield Tap, but is much larger, and more spacious. It has been beautifully restored with 2 large glass domes in the roof. The bar is in the middle and has 3 sides to it. Hand pumps are on two sides with the keg taps on the third.

There are two entrances to the pub, one from platform 3, and one from the left side of the building looking from the street. The only down side is that there aren't too many tables on the platform side of the bar, which is a pity as there is a superb view of York station"

Still about 4 weeks till we can get up there..

Wow! You've certainly whetted the appetite there Gill. That is one seriously impressive list. I'm trying hard not to short circuit my laptop by salivating onto the keys. I feel a romantic Christmas shopping trip to York with the Missus coming on

Made it there last night, as some will know from my bragging text. It's everything you would expect and I already like it better than the Sheffield Tap. I can see a lot more trips to York coming up.

I will post a review and some pictures once it's on the site, I'm just waiting for approval of the addition.
