Maybe in these times of increasing privatisation and "public/private partnerships" there is an opportunity for the Police to sub-contract some of their work to Millwall FC Supporters Club?

Andy Ven text me earlier to say the Barton's Arms had been damaged.

Oh no. I love the Bartons. Always a worry they will destroy heritage that cannot be replaced. Hope it is something that can be rectified.

Bartons Arms
As I drove past this morning on my way into work there were smashed windows, the remains of a badly burned chair out on the pavement and the pub was taped off by police. Pity they can't just pick the pub up and move it to a better area. I hope it's not too serious - I'll keep you posted if I see any updates in the local press

There were police everywhere in London yesterday and Hampstead high street was shut down at 16.00. It's not a great solution and I wonder how long a 16000 strong police presence can be maintained. Maybe the powers that be are hoping the yoofs will get bored and go back to robbing and killing each other.

No, but Carphone Warehouse, Orange and Vodafone are all within spitting distance of each other and there are a couple of music equipment shops stacked with top end speakers etc.
