Default A little bit of history

When pubs change their names, and I'm the one to notify PG, I like to try and give a little bit of history by way of at least the pubs former name/s. I would also add any additional information/stories available e.g. City Limits, Edinburgh's quirky history.

I do like to try and work out why pubs were called certain names and the relationship of new names to old - if any.

Much appreciate Hondos recent updates of Edinburgh Pubs. I'm sure Dasusara or myself will hit Leith for pictures and a bit of history soon after the weather breaks up here.

Hondo was the visit related to the recent Edinburgh derby? Why do I ask? - the pubs involved were on-route to Easter Road.

I have to admit it always makes me glad when there is a little bit of history added to the pub, for me it is part of what pubs are all about, and the more of that that appears on PG the better the site gets.

Historical names is one of the features we keep wanting to add to the site , it really is a must and the code was built to allow it from the first time the site was released. Whenever I come to look at it I am just not quite sure how to actually put it on the site (I don't want it to be as simple as a list of old names, I would like it to appear clearly in the searches, and maybe indicate which name it had when the pictures were taken, etc.), but it will happen.

Your power of deduction is exemplary. I'm a hibs season ticket holder. I used to review pubs on bite but have switched to this site .I'm starting from scratch and reviewing all pubs anew as and when i get to them.

Thanks for those, Dave will look at adding them to our links page later. Do always feel free to share useful sites here, that is the benefit of the Internet.

A good site, and one that may be getting too many updates at the moment.
