No 'hopefully', for me - Maypole is my mission pub on the day, albeit a 20min walk from Barnham - may not be down 'ere again, so can't afford to miss it!

Yup! It's becoming "July on the Juice"! Can't go anywhere on the 2nd but now got Chichester 9 July, our annual Whitstable Oyster festival pub crawl on the 23rd and Brighton on the 30th. Just need somewhere for 16th July and that's the month sorted. Winchester anyone? That idea seems to have gone quiet!

Hmmm, well the 16th is free, though I do have an appointment with a beer train on the Cholsey and Wallingford railway next day!

Forgot about Winchester and (for me at least) the Cheriton mission. Can't commit to unlimited trips like I could in the halcyon days, where's that lottery ticket? And has Ernie forgotten I have a tiny remaining stake awaiting his attention?

Re Chichester, we really should have checked the Goodwood race meetings for July before all this prep, but it's ok - Glorious Goodwood is only July fixture at end of month.
I can't get anything to move on Southern site just now.

Winchester isn't part of Southern Trains so no cheapo tickets!

Nope, but groupsave applies, so good discount if you get 3 or 4 travelling together.

or, for determined travellers with time to kill, use the Southern offer to take the (admittedly very slow) train to Portsmouth or Southampton, and a cheaper connection from there

or, advance book with Mega(train) for a (quicker) £1e/w to Southampton, and a cheap(ish) train from there to Winchester*

    * with planning, using this route, a single traveller could go London-Winchester for £7.80rtn, 1hr51mins.
