Time to pay hommage to Quinno who has passed the 4,000 review milestone.

    A fantastic achievement.

    Thank you!

I've been sitting on a load of unwritten reviews since August; been stupidly busy at work (my usual source of spare time for knocking out a quick review or three when I am bored or wanting a break) and then at home I've lacked motivation to get on with it as the push usually comes from the fact I know I have loads of new pub visits coming up - sadly not been true lately has it - so got lazy.

Another 20 or so to go before I'm up-to-date. Who knows when my next new pub will be though. Or how many there'll be left!

I echo the congratulations and envy your determination to overcome that lack of motivation. My own failure to catch up on however many reviews are still unwritten is partly down to my reluctance to review pubs when they are affected by the Covid-19 regulations, as this both distorts our perception of the pub (tables missing, screens and one-way systems in place, nervous staff behaving bossily) and will no longer be relevant when all this is over. Or should we be writing the reviews anyway as a historical record? Can't quite convince myself.

    Anyway, well done!

Absolutely! It will be a record for generations to come, especially when the youth of the 22nd century ask the question: 'Great-grandad? What's a pub?'

Not really the thread to continue this particular discussion but for historical reasons yes, same with photos, even if it is a near duplicate of an earlier picture, its a good timeline reference to pick up any changes over time no matter how subtle.

I'd say yes, inserting the obvious caveats where required. Where COVID has clearly affected the expirence - for good or ill - I've mentioned it and tried to contextulise it, like The Albion for example - on a 'normal' day it may well have got a 9 but the lack of atmosphere and the understaffing told a tale. You can only go on what you find on the day and in a way the pubs that can still keep an excellent service in the face of everything deserve to be recognised.
