Well, the demographic for the research must have been specifically targetted (eg all CAMRA members?) because, despite the recent small but welcome increase in the market share of real ale, it is still relatively paltry, & there is no way that 47% of a randomly questioned number of people would know whether their local brewer had produced a recent mild, or that 35% would have noticed real beer, never mind mild, over the past month. Maybe the research took place in close proximity to Hobsons or Sarah Hughes strongholds...

I was in my local Ember over the Royal Wedding weekend. The M&B Mild has gone from the handpull and consigned to smoothpour.

The barman told me that the 'real' M&B Mild was no longer being supplied. They had only been sent one keg of 'smooth' which had soon run out.

The barman told me that the regulars were in uproar and the barstaff weren't happy.

I know Embers can be a bit naff, but my local is quite good.

Is M&B Mild about to disappear?

Mild is still popular round here , most pubs sell it though it can be Bankss overkill at times , there is still the odd pub where Mild outsells everything else put together

Extraordinary short-sightedness? Here was me thinking that supply-and-demand drove the market...

To be honest, I don't think I needed some magazine article to tell me tha mild is regaining at least some of it's former popularity. A couple of years ago, mebbe three, the chance of seeing a mild in a southern pub, offie or supermarket was minimal and usually only during a beer festival.
Now, it seems to everywhere, not in vast quantities, but considerable variety. This is a purely subjective point of view and you are welcome to query it if you wish, but of the last three pints I have drunk, two bottles and an ill-remebered pint at the Hampshire Country Fair last Monday, all were at least labelled Mild..........
Pubs are a hobby, real ale is a passion. Oh, and like me dogs, fear no evil..........
