Went over to The Reindeer, Overton for a pub lunch today and spotted these in a side room ready for the Royal Wedding Beer, Cider & Music Festival starting tomorrow:

    Acorn - Up the Aisle.
    Derwent - William's Quest.
    Mallinson's - Prince's Perk.
    Moorhouses - Royal Appointment.
Northumberland - Bonus Bank Holiday Bitter.
    Phoenix- Bride's Nighty.
    Saltaire -Nuptuale.
Dr Morton's - Royal Welding Celebrated Flux.
Five Towns - All Ale To Me and our Lass.

I think the Northumberland brew should appeal to the more republican amongst us.

Full marks to Shepherd Neame's marketing department who, no doubt after a great deal of consideration, came up with the inspired name 'Royal Wedding Ale' for their royal wedding ale...

Was anyone drinking the health of the horse named 'Royal Wedding', which zoomed home by 12L (returned 4/1) at Fontwell yesterday?

I had heard mention of it and thought it an excellent opportunity to back early, lay later (after a deluge of monarchist money). Opened 9/4 in some shops, I took 3/1 on exchanges, then couldn't believe my eyes as, after a brief contraction in price, it lengthened to 6/1(!) at one point, before the off on Betfair. All this on behalf of a pal who couldn't get to a PC, but eventually backed at 3/1 & laid at evens (in running). It won, so that was the best 'Royal Wedding' event of the day, for me. Or at least my mate.

It was also the (obvious) tip that I heard on the radio yesterday morning so I am surprised at the good price.

Tried Something Blue from Blue Monkey on Sunday which, according to the pump clip is, "brewed to celebrate Bill and Kathy's wedding". Beautiful.

At risk of being dragged off to the Tower, I see Skinners have named a beer after the Best Man:
