My Beer of the week for this week is....... Fullers London Pride !!

And before I get accused of some kind of dementure, the background is because I have been out the country for 4 weeks (for reasons I won't bore you good people on the PuG forums) , and suffice to say that most of the free time was spent trying to track down beverages which did not taste like fizzy piss in a glass..

And my first pint of ale back on home soil this week was Pride, and boy, did it taste good......

Hyde's Plum Treat was my best Pint this week Its was the perfect afternoon Pint too wash down the Large Cod & Chips I just had in the Tally Ho Fish Bar before going in the Spoons over the road. Its a nice refreshing Pint nice ruby red but low in alcohol being only 4% makes a nice change.

BOTW for me was Brodies Amarilla which flew down outside The Old Coffee House in Soho on a very warm and busy session. The heavy citrus bitterness was perfect on a balmy evening and I will be trying to sample more from the Brodies range, given their success with this brew.

Windsor & Eton Conqueror Black IPA 5%
    Sambrooks Junction 4.5%
Thornbridge Kipling South Pacific Pale Ale 5.2%
    Peak Ales DPA 4.6%
    Youngs Special 4.5%
plus three experimental ones from the potential Seething Brewery - Pooley's Pride 3.9%, Hopping Lamb 4.2%, and Easter Hop 4.6%.

The experimental ones were really rather good - I do hope they get set up as a regular brewery. But the Peak Ales DPA gets it from me as they slipped down so well in the Sheffield Tap.

Quite a few to choose from again this week.

Cottage Big Boy tried in The Baum was good.

This weeks BOTW is going to be Weltons Chocolate MILD tried at the Regal Moon as part of the JDW festival.

My BOTW is also from the 'Spoons festival - Ballast Point Calico Amber Ale. At the last few JDW festivals, the first beer I've tried has ended up being my favourite of the whole festival and so far it's looking like the Calico will continue this trend.

Springhead Drop of the Black Stuff (Charles Dickens, Southwark) and Highland Island Hopping (Wheatsheaf, Borough Market) were distant also rans.

Disappointment of the week was Summer Wine Brewery's Heretic Imperial Black IPA (Cask, Pimlico), which I was quite excited about tryng, but once again I've found that Black IPA fails to hit the mark for me.

A very good week, by my standards these days. Managed to try the following:

    Batemans - All Seasons.
    Feral - Feral the Runt.
    Naylors - Black & Tan.
    Otter - Hoppy Otter.
    Caledonian- Doc Kennedy's Lipsmacker.
    Nethergate - Saison Blonde.
    Robinsons - Ginger Tom.
    Crown - HPA.
    Roosters - Angry Yank IPA.
    Bob's - Invicta.
    Elland - Eden.
    Dark Star - American PA.
    Brew Co. - HQ1.
    Brampton Best.
    Tigertops - Oatmeal Stout.
    Burton Bridge - Damson Porter.
    York - Centurion Ghost Ale.
    Trentside - Battle of Lea.

With honorable mentions for the 'Saison Blonde', 'HPA' - another cracker from Crown and the 'Angry Yank IPA', my BOTW is surprisingly from the 'Spoons fest, Feral 'Feral the Runt'.
