Double ditto. But I have a sort of grim fascination to find out how long from arrival, being assigned a cleared table and to ordering and then being served a pint of beer takes.

Especially if you don't have the app as your phone doesn't support it.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas

You mean there are 'spoons with cleared tables? And there are the huge branches where it takes 20 minutes to change the barrels, which met my experience at The Coronet (JD Wetherspoon).

I'm now fully contactless for payment and from now on will always be, but I'll be avoiding any pub which inflicts the soullessness of the 'app' on customers.

I won't take any cheap shots at Wetherspoon - all the ones I visited between the various lockdowns were as well run as anywhere else (i.e. variable) and I managed to find a good beer in most.

Of course, they are no substitute for a traditional urban, suburban or rural pub, but they serve their purpose well enough in my experience.

I will happily visit them as soon as I can if they are the best option in the area.

Well, they have the highest number of award-winning toilets of any company in any industry I think?

Great news! But what awards have they garnered for their baths?

Why are they closing at 22.00? No curfiew restrictions cited here.

Nights are seldom warm and dry in April. If you really must sit in a pub garden at 10pm you're asking someone, a badly paid someone, to cheerfully serve you without catching their death. I think closing at 10, or earlier if it's sheeting down, is fair enough
