Yes I was quite surprised in the Walnut Tree last Saturday, didn't entice me to stay for a second pint though. That said the next pint in the next pub just over the Road, Birds , cost me £4.60.

I didn't rate the Birds at all but the North Star was OK. The trouble is that it doesn't open until 16:00 on the days I'm there. If you go to E11 again then the George is directly opposite Wanstead tube and the bus stop by it will take you back to the Green Man roundabout where Browning Street is a very short walk away in the direction of the bus. The Manor House just up the High Street from the George does some crafty cask but it's £4.50 a pint apart from Mon-Wed.
I really enjoyed The North Star.

"we walk into The Sir Norman Wisdom in Deal to find the rear area full of dining tables. The staff are enthusiastic but Martin is uneasy — he still wants what is known in the trade as a “wet-led” hostelry, where the prime activity is drinking."
Really? The branch nearest me usually resembles a works canteen, every normal height table taken up with diners. Quite a few times we've gone in one end and left from the other without stopping.
