A modest week ,with the highlight Bath's Barnstormer a most drinkable dark beer from a brewery rarely seen in my neck of the woods.A worthy BOTW from The Moletrap in Theydon Mount.

I did pop into a Lloyds no. 1 to escape the drizzle and while away half an hour before a parent/teacher meeting. Not wanting smell of drink (unlike the pupils ) I opted for a half of diet coke (£1.65 ) before noticing an array of handpumps with guests including Oakham's Bishops Farewell and Tera, and Exmoor Beast and Gold with not a single "available soon" clip anywhere

Bit of a mixed bag this week, but my top five were the ever reliable Fernandes 'Malt Shovel MILD', Dr Morton's 'Cat-A-Tonic', Blakemere 'Summit Special', Crown 'Samuel Berry's', Acorn 'Old Moor Porter'. Pretty close, but the Summit Special shades it.

A good Sunday lunchtime session at the Surrey Oaks, Newdigate:
    Surrey Hills Ranmore Ale
    Salopian Beatnick
Loddon Penny Pond Porter-a lovely pitch black luscious beer, initially roasty, with hints of pine apple and that sourness that seems to be a hallmark of great porters. My BOTW, and in the running for BOTY.

Almost forgot this weeks BotW. Would have been Old Dairy Gold Top but I've done that one before so I will opt for the excellent St Austell Dartmoor at the Old Mill in Plumstead and at £3.50, just as well it was good.
