Stupid place names

Following on from the ‘stupid pub names’ thread I thought I’d start a ‘stupid place names’ thread (not sure if it has been done before).

Blandford Forum is one I have just spotted.
There’s a place not a million miles from me called Effingham, I always chuckle when I see the sign.

To get on the list I think that the location should have a pub in it to count.

Nempnett Thrubwell in Somerset has always struck me as quite amusing.

I don't know, sounds like a nice plaice although I've not haddockasion to use it.

I remember stopping for a pint here about 20 years ago on the way to a match at Notts Forest. We saw the town on a road sign and our driver wanted to pull in for a beer.
