Terrible week for Beer only manged too visit Three Wetherspoons and out the three only two had Two Guest Ales on Rodger the Cabin Boy & Double Stout so I will go for the Hook Norton's Double Stout.

    Hook Norton's Double Stout

Is it just me being unlucky or have the spoons gone down hill lately with there choice of Ales.

Having got my taste buds back, we had a good week this week, and particularly enjoyed Mr Grundy's No Mans Land at Mr Grindys in Derby prior to the excellent beers we had at Derby fest. Having considered the options, I am giving BOTW to Tap House (new brewery) Taphouse Gold from the fest.

Regrettably another very quiet week but no shame in declaring Oakham Bishops Farewell as my BOTW again as it's the only pint I've quaffed and did so with great pleasure.

    York Micklegate Porter - sublime

I put this in last week earlier by mistake having come over all pissed, too much Copper Dragon. Not as bad as using the ladies loo at Leeds Bus station by mistake (pissed) yesterday.

What's that line from Withnail & I? "we've gone on holiday by mistake"

Good weeks drinking topped off by a few excellent Whitstable Oyster Stout's in The Wheatsheaf ,SE1 which was a great BOTW.Although billed as having a distincitive coffee/mocha flavour,I found it easy to drink and a case of a finished pint demanding another .

Lots of travelling around this week with Harrogate, Knaresborough, Scarborough plus Derby and the Derby beer festival all to consider.

At the festival my 2 favourites were White Horse Blowing Stone & Coppice Side Blonde.

The Valley & The North Riding Hotel in Scarborough are still doing a sterling job with every pint being top notch.

Loved The Crosse Keys in Knaresborough and Ossett Yorkshire Blonde was another contender.

But BOTW is going to be Great Newsome Stone Creek tried at The Alexandra in Derby. Now back to it's best with a new landlord (ex Brunswick chef) and landlady.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
