Thanks for the suggestions, I'll let you know how I get on. It's nice to know that being an infrequent visitor to London I've at least done a couple of these already (The George & The Windosr Castle) and some of the others were on my radar (Princess Louise, and just recently The Harp).
Thanks again, and keep any other suggestions coming. I'm not going until the end of Mrach!

I've now booked my hotel, and we're staying in the Marble Arch/Marylebone area, so any suggestions around there will be especially welcome!

You're close to good transport links and you can walk around much of the central area. If you need one very near the hotel I'd say The Carpenters Arms is your best option.

I agree, the Carpenters is a good pub, just don't be tempted to visit the City of Quebec by Marble Arch station.

Thanks for the tip, it doesn't sound like my sort of place!

Since finding it up the road from the rather nice (but now defunct) Masons Arms, I always admired Carpenters' attempts to keep changing ales, other than mainstream regionals. Five out of six were on last Wed, condition of those tried was good (not always found that to be the case), and the dartboard area to the rear was, unusually, free!
Not must-dos, but other decent walkables in the area are Pontefract Castle and Golden Eagle.

Wait up, the prices (for one thing) may not quite pass muster at the gates of Valhalla.

True! Maybe 'Paradise' was a bit over the top!
