Sitting in the Bell & Compasses, enjoying a free pint of Sneck Lifter, and I see that those nice people at Marstons have just e-mailed me a voucher for a free pint of Guinness for my next visit - result!

Youngs pubs are today sending out vouchers for free pints of Guinness, but this applies to St Patrick's Day only unfortunately (when you would think they would be busy enough anyway..., or perhaps that's why?).

I,ll be the first to take this away from beer related, well sort of.

I,ve just booked an eye test here http://www.boots.com/en/GBP5-Eye-Test_1116799/ and the £15 i have saved will be spent on beer.

    Default Fuller's Brewery Tour

The Fuller's Brewery Tour is currently featuring in the Days Out Guide/South West Trains 2 for 1 booklet, valid until 30 April. You have to travel by train, and if you pay in advance by credit card the price is £10 for two. I did the tour yesterday and the "tasting" session at the end lasted nearly an hour, and it's obviously unthinkable that any forum contributor would be unable to neck a fiver's worth of ale in an hour!

Odd one, but if you have an Amazon Kindle, this book is free.

Not in the Brook Green Hotel it wasn't - dead as a dodo after work with a bunch of bored-looking poeple (who I took to be staff) in their Oirish get-up gloomily drinking halves of Guinness at the bar. So it was a quick pint of the black stuff (which isn't the easiest thing to drink in a hurry, even if free) and I was off...
