I lived near the The Dukes Head for about 30 years on and off, drove past it almost daily at one time, heard people rave about the quality of the Guinness and yet to this day I've never been across its doors, weird eh?

The Gate at Bratton , a 5 min drive from my house , though this may change soon as it is now a real ale pub concentrating on local beers .

    The Brewmaster http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/14088/

about a mile away, never go there as it looks really scruffy & dirty, I was once told they eat their young around there, and it looks like it could just be true

Mine would be The Happy Landings which is within a mile of me. There have been a number of 'incidents' over the years which has made a visit unappealing. Anyone I've ever spoken to who has been there just doesn't go there anymore.

I ought to venture in one day, it can't really be as bad as I imagine!

Oh yes it could Dave, it could be the stuff of your worst nightmares. A couple of places in my past I have kept running for three streets just to be on the safe side. Not now being the figure of athletic grace I once was I am more reluctant to enter pubs with a bad name in case I meet people who remember I owe them money.

The Live and Let Live, Bringsty Common is not far from me but I dont fancy knocking the bottom out of the Picasso driving down the track leading to it.I will wait till Steve Stars re opens the nearby Wheatsheaf.
