I think im in the butter curler camp now , the old farriers knives i looked at were the same shape and size but lack the serated edge .

Thanks to everybody . I have passed it all on and the consensus is its a butter curler.
Anybody else found anything wierd and wonderful in a pub? I found my mrs but I dont think she counts.

Many Thanks Mr.Arch. Have passed on the information and that person has e-mailed the specialist in question. The owner of the butter curler is right impressed with our persistance and doggedness. I must say it gives me many hours of enjoyment tracking down information for a poster whose thread has caught my interest. This way I come across a whole host of inconsequential rubbish to litter my already tip of a memory.
