That's a shame. We always go to the Tap and Spile, and have also been in the Golden Fleece.

Well, well, I never knew that Local Heroes Pub Company owned The Smiths Arms in Wakefield. It's a pub very different in feel to The Ackhorne and Tap & Spile. The home page on the LHPC website states that:

'Local Heroes Pub company is a medium sized Pub Co....built around well run quality outlets..'

However, from the online descriptions and available reviews it does seem the portfolo, overall, is based on downmarket venues. (Quality is not a word that springs to mind when describing The Smiths Arms.) I wonder if the confused ethos of the company partly led to its downfall?
