A quite friday after the exceses of last week
    Doctor Mortons - Eurocrat
Mallinsons - Great Bails of Fire
    Bobs Brewing - Super Chief
    Abbeydale - Illumination
    Stonehenge - Old Smokey
    Burton Bridge - Money Maker

Was dissapointed by the Abbeydale , i usually like their beer but this one had a strange aftertaste (beef chow mein)

Hard to choose between the Dr Mortons , Mallinsons and Bobs

A crawl round Nottingham and Sheffield gave a great variety of breweries and beers, but I have to go for Castle Rock Screech Owl 5.5%. Superb. Had a few and enjoyed them all.

Nothing outstanding this week, but the pint of Boggart Rum Porter I had in the Knott, Deansgate, Manchester was pretty good on a cold winter's day, as was the O'Hanlons Port Stout which has made a welcome return to my village local. However, on balance, I'll think I'll nominate the Hydes Yule Be Back which I had in Maidstone today (and which should be widely available as part of Wetherspoons Christmas Ale selection).

I've been busy ticking off all the strong beers at the Euston Tap and can recommend the Left Hand Imperial Stout if you like a trip to the dark side. However my BotW goes to another strong stout and a holdover from the JDW Festival, Wadworth Pixley Blackcurrent Stout. Very drinkable for a 6% beer and the blackcurrent doesn't dominate the taste. Didn't find it during the festival but glad I have now.

(I think perhaps we should have a dark beer version of this)

A relatively quiet week on the ale front but the discovery of Thomas Guest's Cobbler, an excellent, traditional best at 4.4% was a highlight. However, based purely on it being a true 'bounce out of the glass' pint my BOTW is Dark Star's American Pale Ale.

Went to Bury Beer Festival on Saturday and have also done a crawl through Bury & Sowerby Bridge this week. So plenty of choice.

With an honourable mention to two brand new breweries Pilot Pale from Irwell Works Brewery and Bootleg Brewing Co's Contraband (brewed by a 19 year old girl). Both of which were excellent for new brews.

The winner is Mayhem from North Yorkshire Brewery. Two pints tried at The Firehouse in Sowerby Bridge.
