Birmingham beckons? Never heard of it. Who brews it?

It's nearly an anagram of the likely truth. One Becks in Birmingham.

Very likely. Whatever you do don't mention the large funnel and a yard of rubber tubing to 'C'.

I was going to comment that I'm not sure I would drink a pint of anything called Birmingham Beckons, but I see I was a little too slow.

After reading those replies I can see that I need to watch out for some enamas enemies in Birmingham.

Had an excellent (well, several of) King Goblin in the new-ish Wetherspoon's in Chippenham over the weekend - the Bridge House. Fairly similar to its derivative, but of course with an added punch at 6%. I'd give it a solid 8/10. very disappointed to wander in on Sunday and find it gone. Young's Ram Rod (7/10) was a good replacement.

Lees' Chocoholic in Birmingham Lloyd's No1 on Broad Street (I'll have to look up its proper name), a weak 3.6% to pair chocolate with but it seemed to go quite well. A solid brew but couldn't islodge King Goblin. 7/10.

Traditional Scottish Ales brew the Double Espresso (4.8%) which I had at the next Wetherspoons on route to New Street (I'll never be a good reviewer if I don't note pub names!). I've had this once in the Cuthbert Brodrick in Leeds and enjoyed it, it was just as good here. 7/10. One is enough.

Mordue Brewery Coriander (4.8%) was also attempted but despite being a lover or coriander in most food, this just did not work. I could tell the attempt was at coriander but there were other flavours complicating things and it just didn't work. 4/10

Some other beers tried this weekend were an appalling Wadworth 6X in Chippenham's Black Horse (2/10), a decent London Pride in the same town's Four Seasons (7/10), but the King Goblin is not dislodged this week for me.
