There's always someone who gets locked in somewhere whenever this sort of extreme weather hits us. You just wonder whether the locals who got stuck there judged the likely outcome of the weather and planned their visit accordingly. Just me being cynical of other people's motives! As you say, there are worse places........

Knowing my luck that would happen to me if I was out with my brother-in-law. As he's never bought a round yet it would cost me a fortune.
It would however allow us to see if those "coming soon" clips so frequently seen were actually true!

I have just had a terrifying thought about being snowed in at my BIL's....shudders.

Eight days of intensive Old Peculier therapy, sat next to a real fire, what's not to like?

When I lived at Hartlepool a group of us were booked into the Lion at Blakey for a meal, and when we got to the turn off to Castleton the road kind of ended. There was a wall of about 18" snow right across the road. There was no way our Reliant Robins would get through, so we went to Whitby instead. We often got stories about those who got stuck there, but every time we made it we got out ok. Cracking pub though.
