A damn fine ale drinking week, so honourable mentions for Butts Barbus Barbus (Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage), Fat Cat Cougar (Maltings, York), Rudgate Ruby Mild (Blue Bell, York) and Haviestoun October Hopfest(Crathorne Arms, Teesside) but BOTW is Salamander Werewolf Porter. as served in the Brigantes in York.

I wanted the Fat Cat Cougar in Maltings, but it hadn't come on the days we were there. Glad it was worthy of a mention.

No pub this week, but for consolation I broached the first of many Gadds Faithful Dogbolter Porter, a lovely dark malty hoppy delight-what Autumn is designed for.

A couple of weaker beers stood out this week, one was the Nethergate IPA but my BotW goes to Thornbridge Wild Swan.
I've just joined Alcoholics Anonymous - I still drink, just under a different name.

An honourary mention for Nook Brewhouse Blond tried at The Baum.

But the BOTW is going to be Millstone Tiger Rut, 3 pints of which were tried in the Regal Moon.

I kept trying to order something else but it was so good my mouth kept saying Tiger Rut please.

It's been a pretty miserable week for me which has resulted in a newly estranged wife. Lodden Bamboozle was at least a small crumb of comfort.

A very quiet time for me, just two pints all week! A very average pint of Golden Pippin only leaves Purity 'Pure Ubu' as my BOTW.

Really sorry to hear that Roger. I'm sure many of us can imagine the emotional rollercoaster you're on right now.

I was convinced for ages that Pure Ubu must be named in honour of the wonderful band Pere Ubu, but it turns out it is named after Ubu the brewery dog. Ah well.
And you can really taste the hops!

Not a great deal for me to choose from either.

It's come down to a straight shoot out between King WGV Hops and Dark Star American Pale Ale and despite being impressed by the former, I can't help give BOTW to the APA (and not for the first time I suspect).
