Love the Woodman and always try to get in there. Both rooms had a real fire on when we were there last, seems quite a while ago now, and I was almost begging for a poker to give a real fire a poke, but didn't get one!

Lovely friendly pub though. Must visit Shrewsbury again. Great place to wander round. Wonder if Dolphin is brewing yet. Last 2 or 3 times there we got an excuse as to why none of their beers on.

All/any of the ones I suggested at the beginning of this thread Hoppy. You won't be disappointed.

Cheers! One more question, I prefer to stick around in Town centre so obviously I can't visit them all but which pub WOULD you rate very highly?

If I had to choose just a few, I'd say Admiral Benbow, Coach & Horses, Three Fishes, Salopian. Plus The Yorkshire House just because you have to.

You're always going to do Shrewsbury Hotel & Montgomery's Tower (both JDWs) whatever I say.

Shrewsburys not that big so good pubs like the Prince of Wales(Bell Vue) and the Woodman(Coton Hill) are only a short walk from the centre .

I made mistake on date.. it should be 12th to 13th Oct..

Anyway on that night of 12th, England Vs Montergo will be on TV so plenty of choices in Town as long they sell decent real ales.

I did a small pub crawl from the station in 2008 in Shrewsbury and found 2 totally contrasting experiences - went to the Woodman which had superb beer and the guy there was really welcoming, whilst also went to Three Fishes which was a total disappointment in the hospitality stakes and got the impression that if you're not known you're not welcome!
