Hop Kettle Duet # 13 Summit & Simcoe*
    Vibrant Forest Face Everything
    Howling Hops Top Buzzer*
    The Kernel Dry Stout Azacca*
    Floweropts Perridge Pale
    Triple fff Lady Eleanor
    Thornbridge Astryd*
    Quantock Wills Neck
Play Brew Marshmallow And Peanut Ice Cream Stout*
    Wellbeck Abbey Porter Oak
    Elusive Step Into The Light
    Milton Minerva*
    Ben's Mean Old Bastard*

All good stuff on the whole with last weeks Play Brew effort good enough to do the double but for the sake of change an equally good Howling Hops Top Buzzer is BOTW, sampled midweek, on cask in The Nags Head.

    Slightly better week:

    Everards Old Original*
    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Brunswick Grun with Envy*
    Byatts All Day Extra Stout*

All were good and any could have taken the title but BOTW was Brunswick Grun with Envy. My first green hopped beer of the autumn with all the piney, resinous bitterness you'd hope for. Slipped through the three pint test with ease.

    Edinburgh.

    Spey Valley -- Spey's Cadet
    Cromarty -- White out *
Loch Lomond -- Silkie Stout *
Fyne -- Jarl * (sampled many time in different pubs)
    Fyne -- Castle Black *
Tiny Rebel -- Dark Cherry Battenberg * (keg)
    Swannay -- Duke IPA
Loch Leven -- King Slayer *
    Stewart -- Kilted Kiwi
    Harviestoun -- Broken Dial
Spey Valley -- David's Not So Bitter *
Hanging Bat/Simple Things -- Special Belge
    Thornbridge -- Market Porter
    Greene King -- Edinburgh Rock
Stewarts -- Radical Road Reverse *
    Oakham -- Citra
    Orkney -- Red MacGregor
    Swannay -- Scapa Special *
    Inveralmond -- Lia Fail
Stewarts -- 18 Tropical IPA Birthday Beer

There was some great ale quality and I sampled widely from Scottish brewers,by a very narrow head BOTW goes to Loch Leven King Slayer perfectly conditioned in Kay's Bar. A 5.2% dark amber, malt driven but beautifully balanced by Target and Goldings ,it slipped down a treat on a cold morning.

Next week sessions in Hertford and around Kings Cross.

Bank Top - Flat Cap at Ye Olde Man & Scythe, Bolton.

Quite apt for a 40th birthday pint in the land of Fred Dibnah!
