Default Pubs Galore Meet Up - Friday 12 November - Birmingham

As stated in a separate thread, we are contemplating a meet up in Birmingham on Friday 12 November. Most of us will presmably be getting there mid-morning/lunchtime and will hopefully do a few pubs around the City Centre before departing early/mid evening. Since it will involve booking days off and reserving train/coach tickets, anyone interested should make their interest known here as it doesn't seem to be worth the costs and effort if only 2 people show up. I am up for it as is Quinno and Trainman was certainly not far from signing up. Anyone else interested?

Having suggested some well-priced train tickets on the other thread, I notice (ok, I looked it up) that Roger's coach options currently amount to just £6.50, a good deal in anyone's book. But does one take the speed* & gained drinking time for the extra tenner?
My potential participation is currently in the lap of my sponsors...

Cheapest train deal from London seems to be £7 - earliest 11:03 (arrive 12:27) - and back again at £7 - earliest 19:30 (arrive 20:54) - total £14.

Anybody thinking of getting out to the Barton Arms, Aston (for building and beer) or the Bell, Harbourne (for location, mainly)?

Might be fun, I've still got a fair bit of Birmingham city centre to explore so count me in.

I'm all booked up. Will be arriving at New Street at 10.23 and head straight for the Briar Rose for a stomach liner/churner breakfast and starter pint. I am booked on the 20.10 back to London which gives me the best part of 9 hours and hopefully some of you locals that can't get the day off might be able to pop along for a couple of hours in the early evening although I can't guarantee that we will be fully functional by then.

I don't know Brum very well for pubs so I will rely on you chaps/chapesses with local knowledge to nominate a few "essentials" and plan an itinery. I will go with the flow although I would prefer to stick within walking distance of the City Centre rather than start journeying to the outskirts. There seems to be enough choice to keep us going for a day. Maybe this thread needs to be revisited for thoughts and ideas...
