    Default Itinerary with walking distances

With two weeks to go to our tour of Burton on Trent I thought it might be useful to have some idea of the walking distances between pubs. As has been mentioned, this is not a big town, but with the Elms across the river and the two new brewery taps quite a bit to the north, there will need to be choices made. The original list was 16 pubs, which might be more than some would want to attempt, and taking other comments into account I have included some pointers for where more or fewer pubs can be chosen.

I hope this will be helpful. (For those who would like to print out a copy for framing, there is a pdf attached.)

    Roebuck 12 noon
    Devonshire Arms 12 noon
    Coopers Tavern 12 noon
Brews of the World 12 noon
    National Brewery Centre 12 noon
    Old Royal Oak 12 noon
    Dog 12 noon
    The Crossing 12 noon
    Beeropolis 4pm
    Elms 12 noon
    Burton Bridge Inn 4pm
    Tower Brewery Tap 4pm
    Burton Town Brewery 12 noon
    Last Heretic 4pm
    Alfred 4pm
    Weighbridge 5pm

Above opening times have been checked but may not be accurate. Below timings are for illustration only, and are not meant to imply that bells will be rung or elbows tugged.

    Meet at

    Roebuck 12:00 - 12:40

    Devonshire Arms 12:45 – 13:15

    Coopers Tavern 13:20 – 13:45

    Choice of wild cards:

National Brewery Centre or Brews of the World
    13:50 – 14:20

    Old Royal Oak 14:25 – 14:50

    Dog Inn 14:55 – 15:20

Walking distance of first five mainstream pubs: less than a mile.

    Route A

Elms 15:45 – 16:10 (25 minute walk via Ferry Bridge)

    Burton Bridge Inn 16:20 – 16:45 (10 minute walk via A444 & A511)

    Route B

    Crossing 15:30 – 15:55

    Beeropolis 16:00 – 16:25

    Burton Bridge Inn 16:30 – 16:55

Walking distance from Dog to Bridge by this route: about half a mile.

Option to visit one or both of:

Tower Brewery and/or Burton Town Brewery
    17:00 – 17:40

Walking distance from Burton Bridge Inn to Burton Town Brewery via Tower Brewery: just short of a mile.

    Choice of:

    Alfred then Weighbridge

Walking distance from Burton Town Brewery to Weighbridge (via Alfred): 1.4 miles

    Last Heretic then Weighbridge

Walking distance from Burton Town Brewery to Last Heretic: 1.3 miles, then 0.2 miles to Weighbridge

Alternative to visiting Burton Town Brewery and Tower Brewery:

Burton Bridge Inn to Last Heretic: 0.8 mile, then 0.2 mile to Weighbridge

Last Heretic and Weighbridge are both a short walk from the railway station.

    But in opposite directions.

I'm tentative for this as I've done my leg in and am struggling to walk for more than a few minutes at a time.

    You mean you're legless?

It is in two weeks' time. And it's only a few minutes walk between pubs so you should be fine.

That sounds serious. Hope you are getting some help and will make a full recovery before long.

Btw, no bell ringing or elbow tugging Will? When the hell did these occasions start descending into chaotic free-for-alls..??

Train times and prices were too restrictive for me on this one unfortunately... £100 return and 9 hours travelling for 6 hours drinking

Hope you feel better soon, and that you did your leg in during an amazing event rather than something mundane like putting on your socks. This is how I put my back out for 2 weeks earlier this year.

A jolly good effort, although I am a bit worried it is taking us all to the cemetary! Perhaps Dave could bring his tool into play instead (ooh err missus).
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
