    The 14th is currently spared...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62999136

More than 40,000 workers from Network Rail and 15 train operators will strike again on 8 October, their union says.

The RMT said it would be "effectively shutting down the railway network" as part of a long-running dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.

It will come just a week after an even bigger strike by members of RMT and the train drivers union Aslef, which will leave just 10% of UK services running.

A smaller Aslef strike is also planned on 5 October.

So. Are we meeting at The Roebuck Inn (seems to be the closest to the station) at 12.00?

    That would make sense.

I'm planning to fit in a visit to the National Brewery Centre - before it closes for good at the end of October - at some stage during the day.

Not sure when yet, but I may possibly arrive early and go when it opens at 10:00.

It is on the Itinerary anyway, but I guess that would free you up to go off piste at some point.
On reflection I presume you are talking about a museum tour.

Yes, that's what I was meaning - the website says allow two hours for a self-guided tour, although I expect that it won't take that long (based on what I remember from a previous visit many years ago).

That's a very sensible starting place, see you all there at noon.

I arrive at 11,20am,so will make an off piste visit first to the nearby Oak and Ivy ....if the Whatpub 11am opening can be believed.

Sounds like a good idea, if I can manage to get up early! And that IS supposed to open at 11.00, which might give a little flex later.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

Guided tours at 11:00 and 13:30.

Self-guided tours start at 10:15 then every 30 minutes (except 11:15 on the 14th, presumably sold out already?).
