    Essex:

Bishop Nick-Heresy: 4%abv.Workmanlike English Golden ale.Floral citrus, mineral backbone.A great improvement on an earlier experience of Bishop Nick.By default, my BOTW.

    This week:

    Oakham Bishops Farewell*
    Church Farm Session IPA
    Titanic The Wreckage
    North Cotswold Windrush
    Abbeydale Moonshine*

The Wreckage may well have taken the title had not just had a hint of being on the turn so BOTW goes to Abbeydale Moonshine. On superb form and easily passing the 3 pint test.

A flying visit to Worcester, over the weekend, was the basis for this week's bibbing.

    Hobson's - Town Crier.
    Ambridge Ales - Indian Troop.*
    Ambridge Ales - London Porter.
    Malvern Hills - Black Pear.
    Salopian - Golden Thread.
    Craddocks - Crazy Sheep.
    Prescott (Hanlons) - Super 6.*
    Mallinsons - Mixology II.
    Ledbury - Dark.

Overall, I was quite disappointed with the beer quality, which hovered between the adequate and the average. Only a couple offered a bit more. The easy winner was the Super 6, taken in one of my favourite pubs - The Cardinals Hat. It was good to see it how I remember it, as it had a spell in the doldrums, for a few years, apparently.

Some excellent beer in both cask and keg in just three venues, The Alfred , Waggon And Horses and Ten Tun Taphouse.

    Animal Springbok* c
    Five Points XPA* c
    Five Points Best c
    Oakham Bishops Farewell c
    Oakham White Dwarf c
    Gipsy Hill Bandit k

Many of the starred could be BOTW but the Howling Hops Swing Time on keg in The Ten Tun Taphouse was just so very good it has to be the one.
