A good week warming up for Manchester and Preston with a local pub having a four day beer festival.

Most were outstanding beers but the one that really blew me away was Langham Aeghir, a 7.5% Smoked Baltic Porter, despite it's strength it passed the 3 x half pint test with ease.

    Berkhamsted ,Euston and St Pancras.

    Fuller's -- Wild River *
    Brew York --Keras
    Fuller's -- Oliver's Island
    Oakham -- Kaizen *
    Adnams -- Ghost Ship

Easy winner for BOTW in Oakham Kaizen,a full flavoured cask aged 5% IPA with a wide mix of American,Australian and New Zealand hops together with five interesting malts produced a wonderfully complex ale with lots going on.Served in NBSS 4 condition in The Barrel Vaults, even the plastic mug could not detract from the enjoyment.

Next week all about Preston, looking forward to it.

Ah, give my regards to the Soaks!

My favourite this week from not too far away from there: Firebird Heritage - a good, solid, traditional best bitter.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

Will do! Yes, I've been impressed with Firebird beers, not that I often come across them.

After having about 5 pints of stouts and murky ipa,s and being bored with them I thought let's have a pint of beery tasting beer.I assumed wrongly that after drinking so ⁷many sweet.beers the boring bitter would taste crap.wrong
