A toss-up for two pubs that were new visits:

    The Kings Head
    The Queens Arms

Then a toss-up between three revisits:

    The Crown
    The Myddleton Arms

That's a great call for POTM ,I too enjoyed a great session in there in December.

But the other standout and POTM for me was The Broken Seal Tap Room,a real surprise in Stevenage Old Town

In agreement with Tris this month , The Southampton Arms never lets me down and didn't in December.

I made about three trips in December. It was very lovely in there with vinyl on the turntable and no Christmas songs; have you seen the massive stack of vinyl creeping up the stairs to the left of the bar?
The real fire makes a great addition, but it can still be very chilly in there; a sea of drinkers in duffle coats and bobble hats.

    Always atmospheric even if quiet.
