Wouldn't normally comment buy, all being well, I'm aiming to attend this one.

Bartons Arms: Great pub, fantastic beer but who's got the willpower to leave? Does this rule it out?

    Ha ha!

It's normally me suggesting an extra pub that's only a short bus ride away and everyone else saying, No, I think we'll stay where we are.

When I did the Bartons Arms in 2018 with the guys from Beer and Pubs Forum I caught up with the others by using the 51 bus (the 33 also runs from the same stop) to the Lakeside student residences which are a short walk from the Woodman and hence the other Digbeth pubs.

Although I agree the Barton's is a magnificent pub and one I've visited a few times, and I do like Oakham ales, I'll be giving this one a miss on the day, just so I can spend some extra time supping in one of the other great Brum pubs. We're spoiled for choice

It's 5 minutes walk from where the 7 bus stops on the way back from the Bartons at Lower Loveday St. https://maps.app.goo.gl/TUG1XLBh6wUYNkmt8

I thought the idea was to go to The Bull and Gunmakers Arms after the Barton's Arms ?

I'm happy to go with the general flow apart from any Spoons, not particularly fussed about The Old Joint Stock either.

That was one idea. I suggested another. Nothing is set in stone!

The point is, if doing the Bull/Gunmakers after Bartons, how do we get to the next pub and which is it to be. It seemed to me there might be better options if doing the Bull/Gunmakers first, then getting back to the city from the Bartons Arms. This is why I wanted to hear from Gill and Ray for their ideas on buses. They'll be more aware of bus routes than the rest of us, and their knowledge may help us decide where to go next. I've looked on Google Maps and it has you getting off the bus two stops early in one direction, and one stop too late in the other! Local knowledge is better.
