Smile Drink Up, I now own a small bit of a brewer

Some time back I started buying a portfolio of shares for the grandchildren, for use when I snuff it or they go to University [whichever comes first]

New granddaughter a couple of months back, so as I already held fag shares on their behalf thought of adding a brewer again, [I had Scottish & Newcastle till they sold out]

So, Marston's it was this time, Pints of Pedigree, or Ringwood next time please to help a child through University, you have 18 years to boost the profits, so never too early to start

These days that list will also include Jennings and Brakspears

A lot of former Brakspear houses round my way have opened up their ale range to the full Marstons list and there's been a corresponding uplift in sales (and by default, quality).

If I had enough spare cash I'd stick in Wetherspoons, that company seem like a licence to print money. And if it all goes tits-up they have a vast amount of prime real estate to sell. I don't know how they do it but fair play to Tim Martin.

As the nights start drawing in, I'll certainly do my bit through regular consumption of Snecklifter.
