I love Acorn beers and I know 'oldboots' is a bit of a fan too.

I wasn't planning on going to the pub last week, and didn't, but things were redeemed by the firkins of Harveys Sussex Best Bitter at our neghbour's wedding breakfast. So both by default and through quality, my Beer of the Week is...Harvey's Sussex Best bitter.

Church End Porter (I forget the exact title...gravedigger??) at the Hobgoblin in Reading was my BOTW, though the Triple FFF IPA at the Nags Head (Reading) ran it close.

I just missed the same at Grape & Grain Crystal Palace, where the clip was reversed when I arrived.

Lots of mentions for the Jaipur IPA this week and I had a couple myself. It was a toss up between that and the Morrissey Fox Aussie IPA….until Sunday.

Walked into an occasional pub for me as they have a good reputation for ales and saw a line of six pumps, only beer I knew was Landlord. Plumped for the Polar Star from somewhere then spotted what looked like a 7% beer hiding at the end called Summer something. It was indeed 7% the landlord told me proudly and very popular, a couple of pints later I could see why. It’s a light coloured beer with a strong taste but very drinkable. It took me a while to work out the word play in the name but my BoTW is Church End Summer-terother.
I've just joined Alcoholics Anonymous - I still drink, just under a different name.

Not too bad a beer-week all in all, with 17 pints a few bottles guzzled over a 4-day period.

    Guinness x 9
    Exmoor Gold x 2
    Carlsberg [bottle] x 1
    Courage Directors [bottle] x 1
    Wychwood Hobgoblin [bottle] x 1
    Nelson Pieces Of Eight [bottle-conditioned] x 1
Hogs Back Summer Ale x 1
    Daleside Monkey Wrench x 1
    St Austell Tribute x 1
    Sharp's Doom Bar x 3

    BOTW: Exmoor Gold
