    Yes March is probably the best we can hope for, hopefully the substantial meal nonsense will be re-thought , absolutely kills a pub crawl, but then that was its aim.

    Just heard a nurse on the radio saying that lifting of restrictions by March will be laughable.

    Is that nurse necessarily better informed than our own Spinko?

    34 new pubs this year, 27 since the 4th July as I thought it best to pay a trip to the ones I've been too lazy to visit, but decided to get round to it in case they never reopen:

    The Blind Beggar Most Infamous
    The Camel Most Cute
    The Lord Tredegar Most Pubby
    The Palm Tree Most Interesting
    The Pembury Tavern Best Beer
    People's Park Tavern Worst
    The Salisbury Hotel Greatest Wow Factor
    The Victoria Prettiest
    The Widow's Son Nicest Buns

    80 new pubs in 2020

    The roll of honour;

    Globe Inn
    Tamworth Tap
    The King's Ditch (what a superb drinking town Tamworth is!)
    Black Boy Inn

    The walk of shame;

    The Alfred

    At least I got through the 4000 review barrier, but it feels like a wasted year. On the plus side I have over 30 days of leave accumulated to spend before the end of July 2022 with another 25 coming in on top in August. so when we're jabbed and the pubs are open, I'll be a whirlwind!

    Sorry to hear about the Alfred - I was there a few years ago and the beer was pretty good, and the atmosphere too. What a shame, indeed.

    If you'd written that five or six years ago I'd have said you were bonkers. I went to Tamworth a few times when the Hatters were in non-league and the football was always better than the beer. Most of my Luton mates preferred the Robert Peel to the Globe, though I disagreed (they were swayed by the niche beer offering from small independents, whereas I liked the quality of the more mainstream beers). On the last occasion of the Hatters gracing the Lamb Ground, a few of us went to Lichfield instead, that's how bad it was. Since we got back in the football league I've only been to Tamworth to change trains, and only found the Kings Ditch open on one such occasion, when the atmosphere was poor and the service consisted mostly of a young man looking at his smart phone. And I've not been there during the Tamworth Tap's existence, so it looks like you've struck lucky.

    I was in the KD around 9.30 on a Saturday night and it was great, full of life and friendly faces.
