Sadly, his wish may come true very soon, with 35,928 new cases today (even without Wales finding 11,000 additional results hidden down the back of a sofa...).

Watch this space. In France, there's a 21.00 06.00 curfew. And if you do go out, you can't travel more than 1km from your home and if you do, you can't be out for more than one hour. And in order to do so, you have to fill out an attestation form, stating the reasons why you are out and what time you left home.

Not that it makes much difference, that was the old information and the new details are here: France curfew: FAQ on new attestation forms from December 15.

...and the curfew time has dropped from 21.00 to 20.00. I don't usually get back from my daily ~15-mile walk until around 1.00 am. In France I'd have been guillotined in the Place de la Concorde by now for such a monstrous act of criminal negligence.

"When we spoke to people who had travelled to drink here the vast majority were compliant and headed home. There was minimal disorder and thankfully only one Fixed Penalty Notice was required, where someone refused to wear a mask."

North Yorkshire police said Covid marshals and officers visiting hospitality venues in York encountered “large numbers” of visitors from tier 3 areas and had processed 55 tickets to people in breach of their own tier regulations. They said more than 100 further tickets were still awaiting paperwork completion and processing."
