    Default Cellar Head's single hop Strang's #7

Beer of the week is Cellar Head's single hop Strang's #7, with this year's version first obtained direct from the brewery (on one of those government-approved essential journeys...) and then an extra supply from a local village club with a reputation for great cask beer.

If you haven't had Strang's #7 before (and the chances are that you won't have), this is an experimental variety found by Ian Strang at his heritage hop farm on the National Trust's Scotney Castle estate located less than three miles from brewery.

You won't find out much about this hop on the internet, but here is the story as far as it goes: A Visit to the Hop Gardens.

NB - The only other brewery known to have access to this variety is The Kernel, who refer to it as Finchcocks #7.

Everything from tins except for a couple of pints of cask collected from a pub and just the one bottle.

Rudgate - York Chocolate Stout* ( Cask )
    Wild Beer - Pogo
    Wild Beer - Nebula
    Wild Beer - Millionaire*
    Northern Monk - Scafell*
Magic Rock - What Are The Odds*
    BrewDog/Evil - Twin Roaster Coaster*
    Elusive - Lord Nelson* ( Bottle )
    Elusive - Drift
    Elusive - Mephisto*
    Mikkeler - Side Eyes
    Beavertown - Bloody 'Ell
    Guinness - Guinness

The Rudgate on cask was nice but the Magic Rock beer was excellent beaten only by the sensational Roaster Coaster BOTW

next week some more from Elusive and expecting a delivery from Siren including amongst others the Caribbean Chocolate Cake range, looking forward to this despite the price.

    Desperate for the pub:

    Marble Berimbolo
    Elusive Overdrive
    Elusive/Weird Beard Lord Nelson 2020
    Oakham Citra
    Northern Monk Scafell NEIPA
    Northern Monk Stars and Stripes
    Marble Cross Collar
    Thornbridge Cocoa Dream
    Northern Monk New World IPA
    Marble Lagonda
    Brew York Juice Forsyth
    Northern Monk Eternal Sunshine

All cans aside from the Citra and Cocoa Dream in bottles and all decent although I can understand the Stars and Stripes (Peanut Butter and Jelly Porter) not suiting everyone and it's one tin at a time for me.

BOTW goes to Brew York Juice Forsyth. A tropical IPA which just hit the spot when thirsty. Great name too.

Good name but they might have nicked the idea from Alphabet, who have a beer called Juice Springsteen.
