There is a petition here fromn Greg Mulholland & co appealing for government support for pubs. Signed, although I won't be holding my breath waiting for a positive response.

I don't want support for them, I just want them open.

To be honest though I've avoided pubs in Decembers recently as it's their most unpleasant time of the year.
