More from Scotch Egg-gate.
London is moving to tier 3 so its a moot point on the scotch egg conundrum.
Yes ,that did for my planned visit to The Hope,Carshalton which was doing low priced hot pot table meals outside with a 3 hour time limit.
So it's plan B,Fox & Hounds,Caversham for a 3 hour outside window in which to eat pizza.............................. and sample some cask ale.

Good luck to you, and bon appetite!
I know the rate of infection is not the only criterion when making decisions about which tier of restrictions should apply to different areas, but let me just compare the latest government figures (per 100,000):
Carshalton 52 (part of Croydon: 269)
Caversham 255 (part of Reading: 213)
Lancaster 125 (part of Lancashire: 185 - Tier 3 - all pubs shut, no crowds at football stadia)
Sheffield 138 (Tier 3 - all pubs shut, no crowds at football stadia*)
Luton 298 (Tier 2 - supporters allowed into football matches)
I don't know where or if the other figures (infection rates for over 60s, hospital admissions, etc) are available, but it seems crazy that Reading with 50% more new coronavirus infections per day than Sheffield is in Tier 2, while all the pubs in my home town are forced to stay shut.
(Nev - Caversham doesn't look all that safe to me!)

Come On You Hatters!
So the latest tier updates make a whole lot of sense then.
Greater Manchester has to be treated as a whole, for not entirely clear reasons. Seems very unfair on Tameside and Stockport but fair enough if they don't want to create odd tier borders.
But with me Bristol will be coming down to tier 2 but not South Glos, that means that come Saturday I can walk to the end of my road and if I turn left the pubs will be open, turn right and they will be closed.
