So far this month just having done Hartlepool, it has to be between the quirky Rat Race Ale House just for being what it is, a genuine friendly free house with no lager, good conversation and good beer, and the Jacksons Arms, a true back street local with friendly staff and customers serving the best quality ale we had in Hartlepool.
A jolly good trio of pubs in North Norfolk:
Vernon Arms in Southrepps - http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/28696/
The Crown in Trunch - http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/28358/
Foundry Arms in Northrepps - http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/27976/
Excellent customer service, excellent food and quality ales.
The Boathouse at Wylam near Newcastle was recommended to me today and wow,
it is a superb pub. Called in lunchtime today and there are 15 handpulls,
baskets of food, black pudding absolulely out of this world. All sorts on. Best was
the crack with the customers when Ray said their Black pud was nearly as good as
Black Country fare, and one said "Whats the number of the ambulance?" We did
have a laugh. There is a beer fest of Islands breweries, Arran, Skye, Man etc. It is
on till 31st Aug all going through the handpulls. Brill pub, brill food, brill beer, brill
company and staff. Pub of the month.
Other than my local this is my first POTM I have put forward. This truely is a hidden gem with welcoming staff and seven ales including a couple from Skinners, which I rarely see in North London. The guy behind the bar was more than friendly and the usual Holloway pub crowd are nowhere to be seen as the draught range is very limited. This pub is a short walk from Upper Holloway station which is one stop on barking line to Gospel Oak for those who have not visited the Southampton Arms.
WE ARE THE BREADMEN - UP THE BEES
Sorry I don't put the link to the pub like the rest of you do, I don't know how to.
I have just added the links to the post, I certainly don't feel anyone has to though.
There are 2 ways, in both you need to store the link first, so from the pubs page on Pubs Galore highlight the address in the address bar, something like:
http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/4020/ then right click on the highlighted text and click on copy.
Then make your post in on the forum, you can either right click in where you type and select copy, or you can highlight some text that you want to make a link, once you have done this click on the icon above the text that looks like a planet with a little pair of handcuffs underneath, in the window that appears, right click on the highlighted text and select paste then click on ok.
This months pub of the month is going to be Brigantes in York.

It's always been one of my top pubs in York but they excelled themselves last week for both beer and food. I had a haggis pie! It was excellent.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
Looking forward to Brigantes tomorrow as one of my favourites too.

I have tried to copy and paste for the other pub I did in Wylam yesterday. I have a photo for it when I get my write ups done. Couldn't find address for the Boathouse which is still my Pub of the month.
When I go from forum to look for the pub, I have to sign in again too.
