Default Daft drink related story of the day

It is the Bun so should of course be taken with a pinch of salt, or maybe a pint of cider.

A longer version of the story appears in the Daily Mail:

Mind you, it makes you wonder who the dimwits are here - the store management or those who imposed the licensing conditions (if that part of the story is accurate)?

I am inclined to believe the licensing conditions aspect of the story it was touched upon in one of our other news threads. Have to admit I am going with the argument that the local authority are the dimwits on this one.

Given a local authority is willing to use spies to check on school catchment areas, I can more than believe they would use pensioners in a spot check. In that position why would a shop risk its off-licence.

I would have all the local pensioners with their bus passes go into the shop and get a basket full of booze and when asked for ID if their pass is not accepted just walk out and leave them, would cause bedlam at the check outs!
