It's been diversity over numbers this week - I managed to get a couple of ales in from a couple of Kent breweries new to me - Larkins and Tunbridge Wells (Traditional and Royal respectively). Decent enough but not BotW material though. Will stump for Skinners Betty Stoggs for this week's BotW which has become a regular in my local Ivy Leaf.

Also a less-than-briliiant week for me beer-wise whilst out and about, so my nomination is the good, safe Hopback Summer Lightning in my local - very refreshing and welcoming it was too.

BOTW goes to Westerham 1965 Special Bitter, which was head and shoulders above everything else I had this week.

This is the third Westerham beer I've nominated in as many months - they're rapidly becoming a firm favourtie. Is anyone else a fan?

Yes-I like 'em. They're fairly frequently available in this part of Kent. I had an excelllent couple of pints of Grasshopper at the Star and Eagle in Goudhurst recently. Our local ploughing match had a beer tent with at least six different Westerham beers on gravity last year:I rather hope that the excercise will be repeated this time. Moderation will apply, of course, as I'll be working.
I'm also very fond of the beer they brew for the National Trust-Viceroy IPA. I don't think its available on draught, but the bottles are fine. Try not to buy it at a NT shop, as they certainly know how to charge.
Early drinker, who posts on the other channel, and who must live near me, doesn't like Westerham beers. Each to his own, I suppose, but I generally trust his reviews.

Not a fantastic end to the month drink-wise, with just a mixture of bottled beers, vodka-and-coke's and the 6 pints to round things off yesterday evening.

    Nelson Pieces Of Eight [Bottle-conditioned] x 1
    Nelson Powder Monkey [Bottle-conditioned] x 1
    London Pride [Bottle] x 1
    Wychwood Hobgoblin [Bottle] x 1
Courage Directors Bitter [Bottle] x 1
    Red Stripe [Can] x 4
    Sol [Bottle] x 1
    Corona [Bottle] x 2
    Vodka & Coke [Single Measure] x 5
Cottage Brewery The Panther x 1
    Bath Ales Gem x 1
    Sharp's Doom Bar x 4

BOTW: Thank the Lord for Doom Bar!

I have had several good Westerham beers. One of my locals has had British Bulldog as a regular ale for the past 2 or 3 months and last night I tried Grasshopper with my 'Spoons mixed grill. An early candidate for BotW.

Abbott's Special Reserve wins again, although, between barrells at the Nightjar I really did enjoy Cottage Brewery's Deltic Diesel.
Not my sort of loco at all, but the beer was pretty good
Pubs are a hobby, real ale is a passion. Oh, and like me dogs, fear no evil..........
