A stand against short measures.

Sam Smiths. A bartender at the Chandos told me last year that it was 'the law' to serve at least 5-10% head. I put him right on that one, he eventually topped up the head (which had been ~15%!) but then slammed the pint down spiling some. 'Well, you'll have to top that up again now, won't you?' I told him, hahaha!!
At the same pub, I saw new staff being instructed to serve less lager per pint with a bigger head - i've never seen a lager drinker ask for a top-up though...
I'm a northerner who doesn't subscribe to the 'full-pint' club, but some people take the p1ss.
As the piece says, endemic in the industry. Not long ago I asked for an outrageously short-measured pint of Wifebeater to be topped up. I was refused - I think it was the guvnor who served me - on the grounds that if the rep was in he'd give him a rocket for poor presentation of the drink.
I always do my level best to keep hold of my money until the pint is properly served, I find it improves my bargaining power
Edit: It could of course be a bit of fun to be asked to pay for a short measure then offer by return a short price! "That'll be £3.40 Sir" "Have £3.10 instead" It could also be a good way of getting barred from a few pubs!

A few weeks ago in the Telegraph Vaults in Shrewsbury , the barmaid actually asked what size head i wanted on my beer , it made a nice change
Theres a Man with a Mullet going Mad with a Mallet in Millets !
Found it, the prices show how long ago it was, 10 years? Of course the prices are nearly valid for Sam Smiths pubs, so maybe I should send one to Mr Humphrey
