I have a longstanding dislike of pubs in December. The family are going for a Tasting Menu at £45/head which might sound extravagant but is likely less than I spend in pubs in an average month.
And I still have the memory of the ridiculous charges for New Year 2000 !
I rarely eat out but £45 for one of these 'tasting menus' is not high, but it depends on the number of courses.
I went out to Borough last night to have a go in one or two pubs and every one was like New Year's Eve, so I gave up.
I don't often get to try unvisited Central London pubs nowadays, but I did last night, only to find three of my potential targets closed for corporate bookings.
There are central London pubs you haven't visited??? Even I can lay claim to that but even so, at this time of year it's common for pubs to succumb to the Closed for Private Party curse....unvisited Central London pubs...
