They could have said the in the previous 20 years to that a pint went up from around 1/9d to £1.40, near a 20 fold increase. Far more impressive.
The old addage of never letting facts get in the way of a good story is surely carved on every journo's heart

Yeah, rampant inflation has always been a regular visitor to the economy. The 1970's were terrible. I remember Harold Wilson jumping ship when things got tough. OH Happy Days.

Didn't Harold jump because he [or those around him] realised he was losing his memory? I know at the time I was puzzled why he left so suddenly, and as a conspiracy lover, Jeremy Thorpe anyone? I had all sorts of ideas, but IIRC the truth came out years later, early dementia I think

Oh yes I do now, published in Australia I think & Maggie doing her nut about it, it was all bit of a farce in the end as the only country it could not be bought / read was England, they forgot to ban it in Scotland

    For our younger readers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spycatcher
The book has sold more than two million copies. In 1995, Wright died a millionaire from profits of his book

I was living in London at the time and I remember it was THE book to be seen reading on the tube, for that very reason.

Well deserved it's an excellent pub, I wonder who the other six are? I can't find it on the CAMRA website or the GBG. I have a list of those in the 25th and 30th anniversary GBGs.
