Come to think of it there are a few on here who only drink "beer coloured beer".
Iv'e been out drinking with some of them and have tried to tell them, but they're obsessed and hopeless cases though.

It's nothing to do with beer colour but more the slavish devotion to long standing beers and breweries even though they have gone down the toilet. In this case there is also the large brewery giving a tenant a hard time. I try and make a point of trying new Best Bitters just to assure myself that the likes of Bass & Doom Bore really are as bad as I think. I've found many of a lower ABV than Bass that are vastly superior. Bass was ruined some time in the early 80s, over 35 years ago. Now it's brewed by Marston's it might just as well be one of their numerous worthless themed abominations.

I try to drink Doombore, John Smith Smooth, Carling etc occasionally to remind myself why I drink the good stuff.

Did you see the letter in WB from that muppet in Blackpool advising the journalist in question of five London pubs regularly selling Bass? One is the E17 Flower Pot which I've only been in once over 40 years ago. I'm pretty sure it no longer sells Bass and hasn't done so for years.

I've noticed this, though I suspect there's a level of p?ss taking thrown in.Can't say that I've seen any Bass for years, let alone tried any.I used to enjoy the stuff in the Half Moon in Durham in 1975/6,24p/pint as I recall. Probably best to miss it if the occasion arises.
Not a great fan of Marston's,except for Jennings on occasion.I was most disappointed by a bottle of No 1 Horninglow Street over Christmas, especially as I read on the label some of the hop bill was grown by someone I vaguely knew.Bready:I'd like to think it was a duff bottle, but at £4 a go I won't repeat.

So what if Roger Prozt likes Bass? He may well have an avocado bathroom suite, go to Dr Who conventions, and collect bus numbers for all I know. But I suppose if he were to write about those things it would wind people up too.

To be fair he likes most beer styles as far as I've seen, but I think he has a particular leaning toward Harveys.

And quite right too (in my equally biased opinion)!

According to an update in WhatPub (10/09/2019) it was selling Bass until "recently". Actually, that could have been an older update...
