I dunno, pretty good one-outdoor bogs, at least in 2013, and beer on gravity. As a purist, I kick myself for not trying the ordinary bitter, rather than the fancy new Ghost Ship and Fat Spratt.

Default Unseen photos of East End London in glorious colour.

I've enclosed the link to this BBC article as the photos include some nice snaps of three old boozers:

New Globe - Mile End Toad (1977).
The Old Red Lion - Gardiners Corner (1963).
The George Tavern, Commercial Road. (1969)

Are they still a going concern? I'm sure some enlightened soul will be able to tell us.

Don't know about the pubs, but Percy Dalton-Nut importers used to have a warehouse/unit in our village. Evocative photos.

The George Tavern is still hanging on. The New Globe is now a hotel and The Old Red Lion was demolished to make way for a new entrance for the next-door Aldgate East station.

I have to say that's a shame ,but good luck to the owner if he wants to move on.I have had many great night boozing in The Grove ,one of my most favourite pubs in the UK.

Just have to hope the new owners maintain the focus on quality real ale,but it will be a very tough act to follow.
