    AL1000 seems to have made up his mind on the Craft versus Cask debate on his Never Ending Pub Crawl Blog. Interesting but volatile comments on his post. May,be someone can create a link.

    Worrying though - the example of the Baum, as previously highlighted by ROB, is an absolute scandal.

    Assuming the Baum can make £2 a pint profit after tax and pub costs they will have to sell a 1000 pints a week to cover the rates alone.Seems like a tough one

    We don't make £2 per pint profit, most pubs don't.

    We'd have to charge £4+ per pint, which we don't. If we did the pub would be empty.

    This is Rochdale not central Manchester, Leeds or London.
    A pub is for life not just for Christmas

    Or indeed Aberdeen, I paid £4.75 for a pint here this week. It will get the score reduced for prices like that.
    If the Baum pint is £3.30 then 55p of that disappears as VAT.
